Open Boat at the Albert Dock, AND Festival

We will be inviting the public to climb aboard the good ship DIPPER, in her transformed state as an audio-visual organism that sparks to life when moving through water. We will be working with sounds, images and data we have gathered from our floating adventures re-presenting them using an old fashioned animation device – a praxinoscope, a digital music sequencer that follows a map of the canals, and a timelapse movie controlled by GPS data, all controlled by a waterwheel that gauges the current speed of the boat as we make a short journey around the Liverpool docks.

Sunday 2nd October, The Albert Dock, Liverpool 12pm – 5pm

Free but booking is essential

How to be a Resident

We will be talking about our residency on the canals as part of the AND festival Talks and Debates programme. Here are the details:-

30th September 2011,  13:00 – 14:00
The Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool, L1 3BX

A residency programme has been a key part of Abandon Normal Devices since it was founded in 2009, providing artists with a test bed for new work as well as giving them the opportunity to collaborate with organisations such as the Forestry Commission, British Waterways and DaDa – Disability and Deaf Arts.

This event brings together residents Ali Khodr, Fabi Borges, Camila Mello, Kathy Hinde, Matthew Olden and Ailís Ní Ríain together with our partner organisations to discuss the opportunities and challenges these residencies create.
